Welcome to the Winnetka Scout Troop 18 website. Troop 18 is the longest serving scout troop in Winnetka and is chartered through Christ Church. We take pride in providing our scouts and their families with a values base program, including promoting citizenship, service, leadership, and a respect and love of nature.
Throughout the school year, our scouts meet on Tuesday night to have fun, work on merit badges and prepare for campouts. In a typical school year, we’ll venture out for eight or nine campouts and several scout outings. Our weekend trips include adventures like canoeing down the Wisconsin River, rock climbing at Devil’s Lake Wi., camping at Starved Rock, IL, Klondike Race at Camp Crown, and mountain biking. Our backyard includes sites in Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa.
Every summer we spend a week at summer camp at Ma-Ka-Ja-Wan (or Tesomas) Scout Reservation in Wisconsin—it’s the highlight of many a Scout’s summer. For our older scouts, we take a high adventure trips, which include fishing, sailing, backpacking, and Sea Kayaking. This year our scouts are headed to the Florida Sea base, one of Scouting Four national reservations. They will spend a week sailing and discovering the reefs in the Keys.
We invite you to spend some time get to know us a little better. Please contact us at [email protected] to set up a time to meet.
Meetings
Our Troop meetings take place Tuesday evenings during the school year in the Scout Room at Christ Church on the corner of Oak and Maple in Winnetka. Our meetings are an exciting mix of merit badges, rank advancement, and team games, and have fun with other Scouts.
